Cares for the environment
Protecting the environment
At KIKO Milano we are dedicated to helping reduce environmental impact, carrying out dedicated initiatives and setting ambitious goals for ourselves in terms of circularity and sustainable packaging. We know that adopting sustainable practices can also attract environmentally sensitive customers, talents, and investors and can help build a sustainable economy and protect the environment for future generations. To ensure we have the right policies and processes, we created KIKO Milano Cares For The Environment which is an environmental commitment aiming to reduce the impact of our stores, logistics, products and in-store product sales as well as ensuring responsible use of energy, waste reduction and adoption of plastic-free shipping for our directly operated e-commerce strategies. For example, our shops in Italy, France, Belgium and the Netherlands use green energy, and we plan to extend this practice to all our sites and shops worldwide by 2030 We have also joined forces with Plastic Bank to prevent plastic bottles from ending up in the oceans, and in 2023 we will have collected 4.6 million used plastic bottles.
KIKO Cares about the Future
At KIKO Milano we strive to use sustainable cosmetic ingredients from renewable sources
and help avoid environmental damage, such as deforestation. We are equally committed to sustainable packaging goals: 100% of our paperboard and cardboard for secondary packaging is made with certified paper according to FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) standards and we have removed almost all internal leaflets from secondary packaging as well as magnetic closures wherever possible.
A shared philosophy with our suppliers
We work with suppliers that guarantee the highest social, ethical and environmental standards aligned with our goals. To do this, we build long term relationships with our suppliers and engage in constant dialogue, sharing our values and priorities to ensure they share our vision and including a Code of Ethics clause in our third party contracts. We are also committed to defining a Global Supplier Code of Conduct signed by every top supplier by 2025. We now require a green approval – EcoVadis – from our suppliers to guarantee that only high quality, ethical and responsible suppliers are included in our suppliers list. Our goal is to get 100% of our top suppliers to adhere to EcoVadis by 2030. Our product suppliers, with the exception of POP materials suppliers, are validated through quality process audits in line with ISO 22716 (Good Manufacturing Practices). Ethical inspections are applied to non-EU suppliers inspected on topics including health & safety, hygiene, environmental management, child and youth labour, working hours, wages & benefits, and labour practices.
